Nbadraft.net is reporting that the Pistons have a promise to BJ Mullens to take him if available. Two different sources from what the article says.
Not so sure I like the pick as he seems to be not real aggressive to me when i watched him play.

I don't like that pick and I hope it is being made in anticipation of trading the pick. This is Darko part deux. The guy has an incredible amount of talent but is mentally as weak as they come. I don't see him becoming a successful NBA player. I will only be ok with Mullens being chosen if Joe makes a move for another 1st rounder.

I liked Daye before reading how he is bombing in his workouts. I have soured on him now. If Joe passes on Clark or Johnson for Mullens I will be disgusted and have lost what little faith I had left in him as a GM.

Here's the quote:

BJ Mullens

Two different sources have indicated to NBADraft.net on Friday that the Pistons have a promise in place to take BJ Mullens if he's available to the them at 15.

Mullens works well with the rebuilding Pistons as he's a player with significant upside but will take time to become a contributor. With the Pistons in the process of rebuilding their squad, Mullens offers them a potential center for the future.

Personally, I don't like this pick at all seeing how he got punked by Luke Nevill.

Comments from observers in the gym:

“Austin Daye vs. Omri Casspi turned into a real wrestling match. Casspi just manhandled Daye, really threw him around. It was a bit disappointing to see how little Daye was able to compete from a strength perspective—Casspi is a kind of a skinny guy himself. At one point Casspi cut Daye’s lip open--he had to go to hospital for stitches. The Nets should have done a better job of getting someone to call fouls. Casspi was fouling the hell out of Daye. Some of the guys were looking at each other like ‘what are we watching here?’

WHy F'n GAMBLE on another great white hype Center? Why not take the sure thing in Hansbrough, he will give you nearly 10 and 10 in 20-25 minutes anight off the bench. We'll be LUCKY if Mullins does that in maybe his second season.... I don't think we should draft a 7 footer, JUST BECAUSE he's a 7 footer. I think Hansbrough is the closest thing to a sure thing in the area that we are drafting. I don't exactly think he is the BEST prospect, but he is a solid guy where you KNOW what you are getting. I'm done with the whole concept of the "POTENTIAL" of a player... Draft potential in the second round, non-garuntees are easy to bounce out the door, locked up gauranteed rookie conytracts are hardER to bounce!

I've had some time to think about this. It is a possibility that Mullens (if this rumor is true) maybe drafted as a trade package. There are alot of teams that are high on him while his stock began to rise in the pre-draft workouts until he fot man-handled by Luke Nevil. However, this man by no means has Pistons DNA!

Just picked this up...

Wasn't there a rumor last year that the Pistons promised to take DJ White? They did, but immediately traded him to the Supersonics for two 2nd rounders.

Maybe it's part of a deal that will be announced on draft night.

Mullens may not be a bag pick at 15 if Earl Clark and James Johnson are gone. Mullens has post moves, is atheletic, and has a good NBA body.

But, Clark and Johnson are more polished combo forwards who will be ready to contibute much earlier than Mullens.

For a center, I like Josh Heytvelt, who, at 6'11" 260, I believe can play C/PF, and has a nice shooting touch. He should be available at 35. We should have one center who can spread the floor, especially if Maxiell or Johnson are still around.

Minnasota was a team that was high on him, they have the #18 pick, could Joe draft Mullins and somwhow trade down to that pick and possibly pick up the #28 as well?
BJ Mullins and Amir for Cardinal and #18 and #28. We get a nice exp deal $6.5ish (Cardinal). and 2 first rounders. They cut Cardinal's money from their own books and add Amir's $3.6 to it's cap cost cutting number. They also get the 5 they want and Al Jefferson doesn't have to play out of position all the time now. They lose two picks.... not really, they basically just lose the #28 which they acquired ina previous deal. They get a guy they want and lose basically nothing.... Joe can draft a solid guy at # 18 just as easily as #15 and we benifit from the exp deal. #28 in this draft could be JUST AS GOOD as whomever we draft at #18.

Might could still get Clark or Johnson, while also being able to get Jerekbo, Collison, Ellington, basically Joe can reach for a guy he thinks may not be there at #35 by giving up very little.

Being able to walk away with a class of Johnson, Green, Heytvelt, and Christmas would be fine, nothing really to boo. However making that Minny deal, while we'd lose the misused Amir in it, being able to still land Johnson, Collison, Green, Heytvelt, and Meeks would be better. Would all 5 make the roster... not likely, but adding that much college talent to the roster sure does make for better odds of the good guys sticking!

It's possible to get Clark or Johnson at #15, but both probably not at #18.

At #18, he might get a PG (Ty Lawson, Eric Maynor or Jeff Teague) or Tyler Hansbrough, but the athletic combo forwards would be gone.

But, after the talk that the Pistons might trade out of the 1st round for more cap space, why pick up a 2nd, to go wth 3 2nd rounders. That's a lot of young players, along with Washington, Sharpe and Plaisted, who may not be ready to contribute. It sounds like a move by someone who's in a long-term rebuilding mode.

Look, I know it's a stretch, but what if Joe is actually willing to just fill some holes untill the '10 offseason. That's not great, but if he's willing to just suck this next year, have some young pieces to work with later in trades or whatever, that's fine by me. Remember even with ALL those guys, only the 2 first rounders from this year will have garunteed deals. What if Washington gets the Ricky Paulding treatment. What if Joe drafts Jerekbo to keep him overseas for a couple of seasons? I don't know, but I know that I'm not all about this BJ Mullins dude....

Naw, I think Joe received too much pressure from the media and fans. Regardless what pick we have other than #1, it's not going to turn this team around. So, the most critical transactions will be free agency and we're in dire need of a pure point guard and a veteran 5.
