You are having a bad day? Someone else's dog died or their parent was just diagnosed with cancer. (which is horrible...don't get me wrong)
You just spent 50 bucks at the doctor's office to find out you had the flu? Well...so-and-so just spent 100 bucks on their child who has the flu. YOU got off cheap!!!

It's this me! me! me! attitude with people anymore that drives me insane. How dare I complain that I have a headache because YOU had a migraine yesterday...which most definitely trumps that simple little headache of mine.

Edit: and yes, I absolutely despise people who do that. If I feel sick at work, and I make a comment about it, or something to do with my allergies, our office manager will constantly one-up.
