The health department in my town is having a free clinic of sorts for children to get the H1N1 vaccination in a couple of weeks.
I was just curious as to how you all feel about this vaccination. I was just "arguing" with a friend about it, on facebook of all places, since she's against it and I'm leaning more towards it.
I've read up on the vaccine and I've done research on it...again, I'm just curious what you all feel about it. Has anyone received it yet? Or going to?
I think the attention this is getting is WAY out of whack. You know how many people die of the regular flu yearly? It is something like 100,000 people ever single year.
It is seriously a non-issue, that reeks of media hype.

Well, I guess it's just like getting vaccines for the regular influenza. If you want it, go ahead and get it. I'm not against people getting flu shots, although I don't get them myself seeing as how I don't think it's the end of the world if I get the flu. Obviously people have blown the h1n1 stuff way out of proportion so everyone is gonna run to get their vaccines. Oh well. Stomach flu is another story...it scares me to death. If they made vaccinations for that I'd be all over it.

I agree 100%! But, if it's being offered beter safe than sorry.
Unless a person has a medical type job, I wouldn't touch that junk. A whole lot of Hype. And it even came out yesterday, the numbers of people getting it(in the US) were BS also. Leave it too the government. I'm still scared of the buffalo flu. And Hoof & Mouth. The bird flu, & the kangaroo cough.
They offer it free here also. But i don't want that crap in my system.
A few things to consider on the swine flu vaccine.
1. It's been tested, though not as thoroughly as previous season flu vaccines. Want proof? The US government has given vaccine makers immunity from lawsuits due to side effects. My sister-in-law is a nurse that helps head up vaccine info for the hospital she works at.
2. It's probably safe as any other vaccine. Though all swine flu vaccines contain mercury. There is a huge debate whether or not mercury is linked to autism in children under three years old. I'm not sure if the nasal spray version of the vaccine contains mercury or not.
3. If you're not in a "high risk" group, you can't get the vaccine right now.
I've decided to skip the vaccine. It's really not supposed to be any worse than the regular flu. Also, if people are exposed, then they will begin to develop natural immunity.
What they don't know is whether or not the swine flu will go away like previous versions (circa early 50s and 1976/1977) or will mutate and come back every year.
The health department is offering the nasal mist as opposed to the injection. The nasal mist is the live virus while the injection is inactive.
My kids already have had the influenza vaccine so I'm kind of on the fence about the H1N1 vaccine for them. I was alive when the swine flu was around in the 70's so maybe I was already exposed to it? Hard to tell...
Is getting vaccinations for everything making our bodies wimpy? My friend had posted this video from a holistic website and it made me want to crawl in my bunker and hide from the government...dang scare tactics anyway.

Me and the wife had been discussing it. We decided not to at first. Then after the regular vaccine, we talked about it again so we kept the option open.
In our hospital, like somebody stated here, only the ones who will be exposed to the high risk group will be given first. I guess we don't fall in that category.
My wife took our youngest to the pediatrician last week and they talked about this vaccine. Our doctor wouldn't give her own kids the vaccine so it just strengthened our decision not to.
I really don't think there's a thorough study about it. But that's just us. And we don't fall in the high risk category either, none of my family members are in immune-compromised health.
ok first of all, anyone that read movement is accelerating, its a no brainer not to take that filth. Second both my grandparents never took a flu shot, an never got it, hmmm? thats strange wouldn't ya say? third the only thing that scares me bout h1n1 lies, is not the disease, its the hype put into this, why the hell would they go so far to make us take the shot? i go to cvs an see my bag say did u get your swine flu shot? my reply to that, is f off. Some grocery stores paying people to take it!? obviously there getting desperate for people to take it. HONESTLY YOU HAVE A BETTER SHOT BEING HEALTHY BY NOT TAKING THAT POISON SHOT!!!

I do not intend to take the vaccine, nor do i intend to take my children in for this immunization. I could still be persuaded otherwise, but that is where i stand now.
We will continue to eat healthy, drink plenty of clean water and fruit juice, wash/sanitize our hands regularly, get plenty of sleep and take our chances.

I was at the doctor today and I asked about it and if I should consider it. I was told I couldn't get it. Not that it really hurt my feelings because I don't think you need it.

I'm not eligible for the vaccine myself...still on the fence about giving it to the kiddos though. I appreciate all your responses. I've got a couple of weeks to decide...and change my mind again! lol
I got the H1N1 vaccine, the injectable/dead virus one early last week...somehow I am still alive. I got the normal flu vaccine as well, a first for me.
There have been a few confirmed cases at the hospital I am at, but no deaths. I'm just happy I was able to get one early on, even though I highly doubt this "flu pandemic" will live up to the hype. Now if it does live up to the hype, starts killing lots of people, and the vaccine works, would we still have outcry from the anti-vaccine crowd?
Just for the record. If you get sick, achy, nausea, etc the symptoms of the flu, do not show up at the ER. Only go if you are severely affected or you have medical problems that put you at increased risk for death. People are showing up thinking they have swine flu cause they have some sniffles. Use some common sense, Emergency Rooms are for Emergencies.

the thing is the disease, is devolving, look at it as mother nature joining the fight against the nwo. cause thats what it is. So basically why even take a vaccine when the man made flu is already losing its killing power? an about those stock soaring predictions, well the money was already transfered, because firstly the pharma companies some how knew this swine flu would out break, hmm? an they made billions of vaccines for it, which of course costs money! which of course someone paid for, ah yes WE THE PEOPLE DID! well of course in a corrupted way since it was stolen from us in the first place, then we gotta pay again to take our suicide shot

So where can we get the real low down on what is and what isn't the H1N1?
Two of my kids have been sick this week: fever, overall crappy feeling, headache, body ache, no appetite. They are both seemingly better, yet the youngest one is now coughing.
Somewhere I heard if they are sick, and then fell better and then get sick again a few days later that is serious, and they should see a Doc. Yet, I've only heard that from one report. Other reports say no Doctor visit until they are deathly ill.
I understand our political news being slanted one way or another, depending on the channel you get it from. Even the weather forecast varies from one outlet to the next. But with the media whipping us into a frenzy about H1N1 the least they could do is get one story and one set of facts and let us know what is going on.
I think it's more paranoia than anything. I read a statistic that the Swine Flu has a Death risk of .5% while the Regular, every winter strand of Flu has a 2% risk. People are just scared of the next great pandemic.
