So the UFL plans on adding a couple expansion teams... Why not have a rebirth of the Michigan Panthers and have them play in the Silverdome? Probably a little far fetched... Thoughts?

I'm kinda spacing on this one, and don't feel like looking, but the Panthers were USFL, weren't they?

Sweet. Thanks man.
Either let the UFL bring them back, or perhaps they are in the cards for a return in the 'new' USFL next year.

Normally I don't think we'd have the market to support 2 professional football teams right now. But if they were to get a team in there next season I really think there would be a following. Of course the only way they could survive long term(assuming the league doesn't fold) is if the Lions continue to stink the joint up.

GOOD LORD ARE YOU GUYS CLUELESS! The Michigan Panthers, besides the Detroit Drive of the Arena Football League, ARE AND STILL THE LAST PRO FOOTBALL TEAM TO WIN AROUND HERE SINCE 1957. They stuck it to the Lions, and WON! Kids and adults were dropping the 0's for the heroes in Burgandy and Champaign. Their following was truly growing, until they were upset in 1984 by the Oakland Invaders, and then sold and merged with those same Invaders. Boys, we actually won a championship, stormed the Silverdome floor, and TORE THE GOAL POSTS DOWN! I know I'm sounding like I telling a fable or made up story, but it really happened! A Detroit football team that actually beat up another football team, and then it's fans ran them out of the dome, NOW THAT WAS PRICELESS, and unheard off. 1983 was the first year any of us growing up in the 70's EVER SAW A WINNER. And then those other cats, the Tigers blessed us again with the Roar of 84. And 83 was that strike shortened year, where the Liedowns made the playoffs backing in. They got to San Francisco, Monte Clark prayed, and Steady Eddie Murray missed his win blown game winning kick. But we Panther fans were like, THAT'S OKAY BECAUSE THE MICHIGAN PANTHERS WON US A FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP!

If the UFL does put a team here in Detroit, or in the EMPTY PONTIAC SILVERDOME, that would be a great tribute to a great football team by calling them the Michigan Panthers. But whatever they do, don't call them the Lions or the Fury!
