"When you are running an organization, you have to have the vision and the foresight to be able to change and put the team through transition," Dumars said. "But you also have to be patient enough to sit back and allow it to play out.

And to think not long ago he was one of our 'untouchables'.

We really made a hash of last season, were so pathetic, let AI run the show, didn't play Johnson nearly enough. Now Johnson is gone to another team and will make us look foolish.

Cmon Amir!

Hahahahaha!

Amir is 22 years old! "Young guys?" "The kid (Brandon Jennings) is going to be great?"

Won't be long until Jennings turns 20. Heheheh...

Weird though. Doesn't seem like he's shying away from pursuing that vocal role...

WORD! Pot calling the kettle black. I dont need to hear what Amir has to say about his new Milwaukee team. I wish him well in his career but he's not here so his interview shouldn't be either!

When did he flash signs of greatness? I watch almost every game in it's entirety and he was a complete non-factor.

Joe Dumars can be questioned a great deal with some of his draft picks. But one thing he has been pretty darn good at is knowing when to to acknowledge his mistakes and move on from them.

With the rare exceptions of Chauncey, who was a financial move for the future, and Mehmet Okur, who was a victim of a CBA rule that has since changed, the players Dumars cuts ties with don't make him look foolish for letting them go.

Jarvis Hayes - nope
Mo Evans - nope
Flip Murray - there's a small argument, but not really
Ben Wallace - for $60 million, 4 years, nope
Darko - nope
Carlos Delfino - nope
Carlos Arroyo - nope
Ronald Dupree - nope
Mike James - nope
Corliss Williamson - sadly for him, nope. He was done.
Chucky Atkins - nope
Jon Barry - love the guy, but nope
Cliff Robinson - nope
Rodney White - nope
Mateen Cleaves - nope
Stackhouse - did ok after Detroit, but compared to what Rip gave the Pistons since the trade?
Jerome Williams - nope

It's extremely doubtful that Dumars and Detroit fans regret not keeping Amir Johnson with the Pistons. For that matter, Arron Afflalo and Walter Sharpe as well.

In order to regret it, Amir not only has to play well, but play better than Charlie Villanueva, because trading him was done in order to ensure enough cap space to secure Villanueva as a free agent acquisition.

That likely won't happen.
