Cavs fan here, I know this is a stretch, just want to get some Pistons' fans opinions.

Rip will be traded, he can't possibly coexist with Gordon. Z gives the Pistons a 5 for this season and, more importantly, frees up cap room in 2010, allowing the Pistons to go after a big star, even after the addition of Charlie V and Ben Gordon. Throw in a draft pick or two, could this get done?

We're not in the business of accommodating the Cavs unless we get LeBron back in return for our efforts.

Can't worry about who you're dealing with, just have to worry about improving your team. This deal would definately improve both teams. The Pistons would improve immediately, seeing as they lack a real 5 and already have Gordon at the 2. More importantly, the Pistons benefit long term, because this deal would give the Pistons about $20 million in 2010 cap room, which would allow them to make a run at Amare, Bosh, etc...

Besides, the rivalry is dead. There is no Cavs/Pistons rivalry. That ended when Billups was traded... and is completely dead now that Sheed is gone.

Hmm... I don't know, Z really sucks if you think about it.

He has a jumpshot and hits FTs, but he's TERRIBLE defensively, old, and VERY slow.

Rip can at least run the floor, score, and hit FTs.

Thanks, but no thanks.

Z isn't as bad as he looked vs Orlando. He plays well vs every other team in the league. He's just too slow to keep up with Dwight. And this deal is more about dumping salary to free up space for summer 2010.

If we add Villa and Gordon like ESPN says we are trying to do, we will have to move Rip and Tayshaun. I like the idea of making changes while still retaining cap flexibility, but I don't know if I want the Cavs to have a Shaq/Varejao/Lebron/Rip/Mo line up.

I'd rather use Rip and Tayshaun in a trade to acquire a player like Bosh or Amare, than improve a division opponent and wait for free agency to do it...

I repeat...we are not trading you Richard Hamilton straight up unless we get a proven olympian back in return for our efforts man! Lay off on that crap!

You make teams like the Cavs pay extra for Rip because they will face you 4 times a year for the next 3 seasons. There must be a 3 or 4 team deal that is an absolute steal for Detroit in order to move Rip there.

We don't know whether Rip and Gordon can coexist or not yet, but if a washed up Big Z is the best Joe can do, then we'll just keep Rip. And two draft picks is an insult! Keep your draft picks!

No thanks.

Z is really bad defensively. He can shoot and rebound fairly well, but that's about it. Bad athleticism. Near the end of his productive playing days.
Rip is decent defensively. He's money with his mid-range shot. He wears out his defender. He's still got a few years left of productive playing days.

Pretty terrible trade talent wise for Detroit, and we're not looking to just dump Rip's salary.

Stupid thread.
We won't trade Z unless its with the knowledge that he will get a buyout and return.
Z will retire a Cavalier, no ifs ands or butts.

How long have you exactly been watching the game of Basketball or sports in general?

Division rivals usually NEVER make deals, and even if you want to say we are not your rival, fact is we are. Joe obviously wants to win now, and you are in our division.

Actually, what he says has merit. It's just a different way of saying, the only way we'll deal to a division opponent is if the deal makes them worse than us. Meaning you'll never see it. Of course the Cavs won't give up Lebron for anything. Nor will we give up anything for anything less than Lebron.

Not going to happen.

I hope that is a joke You guys would be crazy to not want Rip. He would be a great fit on your team. We would be handing you guys the title if we gave you Rip.

Not joking in the slightest.

Rip is a good player but he is past his prime.

Only thing Rip has the edge on is those catch and shoot jumpers off curls.

Pretty much every other aspect of the game Delonte is superior.

Delonte is a better defender, better handler, is 'tougher', and is probably nearly as good if not as good overall at scoring when he wants/needs to...

Call me crazy but I would not trade Delonte for Rip straight up.

That is not to say I wouldn't take Rip if he wanted to be here, and we could afford him...but if I had to pick one or the other it would be Delonte all day.

You are crazy and way overrate Delonte. Delonte is a good player but he is not on Rip's level. I'm not being a homer. Rip is far better than Delonte and an even swap would make you guys Champions.

Rip gets to 30 in about a fourth of his games. I think Delonte's done it once in his entire playing career. And he can't seem to stay on the floor for more than 61 games a season.

Rip's one of the best, if not the best, conditioned athletes in the league. He actually get better on the second game of back-to-backs.

rip isnt past his prime... yet

rip not only can do catch an shoot jumpers better he is a whole 3 all0star games an championship better then delonte!

pretty much that 6'7" along with his talent make him superior to delonte in every aspect of the game

rip is a 6'7" better defender then 6'2" delonte, now we gettin redundant. Tougher tell delonte to go toe to toe with artest an beat him in a series.

call me crazy but i would not trade rip for delonte straight up either!

not to say i wouldnt take delonte for a second round pick
