That's why I wish we wouldn't have traded for AI. He doesn't improve our team...we just stayed even. I wish we would have gotten bigger instead of smaller. But, it was all for cap space anyway.

Been thinking the same thing since day one, we didn't need another guard, Stuckey was just going to replace Billups in the line up. They needed a big body or someone who could score in the post.

The trade was about cap space, not AI. If we got nothing in return, we would have Stuckey replacing Billups, and would be getting slightly bigger, and quicker.

By having to play AI, we become smaller, we become smaller, and not as good defensively. The solution: don't start AI. Bring him in, as PG, to add speed and scoring to the 2nd unit, or when more offense is needed.

Can his ego take not starting?

Im with you on that Doc/ Half of me thinks that if we gotta go small in order to make it work, and get outrebounded every game. Then Yes I wish we would've stood pat. But The other half is basically like "well Hey we've been there done that with the same cast, and still did'nt Win it, so maybe it seems were better off having a score at will kinda guy.If It makes our offense unpredictible then Im still all for it, but not with the lineup we have. Prince as PF aint gettin it done.
Only good thing I can say so far is Stuckey is looking real good on our team. Oh and Yeah We have an independant Scorer. I guess we wont really know until June.

I think Joe tried, he had an offer with AI during the summer but he waited. I guess he couldn't find that big man (SF or up) so he took a chance at AI and received the future cap space as an added bonus. Sooner than later he will go for that Big Man.

I think one thing that is going unsaid about the Billups trade.

This was not a lateral move IMO. By inserting Stuck into the starting lineup and adding AI the Pistons went from a jumpshooting team to a team that can get in the paint and create thier own offense off the dribble. HE HAVE NOT HAD THAT IN YEARS.

Yes the Pistons are heavy in the backcourt and light in the frontcourt. But I don't see Joe making another move this year, and I really think this team can compete givin time.

There is much truth to this. Not since Chris Webber was a Piston did we have any kind of 'pain' game. And that all came to a halt when Chauncy started complaining that he didn't know how to play without the ball... One of the reasons I was not sad to see C-Bill leave.
