When a doctor attempts to remove cancer he has to remove all of it.If he leaves any, it will grow again.

The stories of Rip spurring mutiny on the team says it all. It really explains the losing streak we had after he was benched.

Tay needs to leave also. When I seen the obvious increase of effort from him and sheed when AI when down.(lasted only 5 games) I lost respect for them as pros. A lot of posters on this board don't even realize how their favorite pistons really cheated them this season.Every other piston but Tay/RIP/Sheed played every game like it was their last, every game. Besides his latest playoff disappearence. How do you play 32 mins a game and average 4 points in a playoffs series?
If your really hurt Tay, don't play so much.

Joe D. is on a house cleaning mission so hopefully they're gone. I hope Joe D is thinking like me. Fresh start with talent! Hire Avery Jounson and Dump Rip& Tay for a center.

If we package them together will could receive a elite talent. Or put Maxiell with one of them or a Good player.

If Joe D does his next move right,he could be back in the GM of the year hunt.

We need 1 starting guard with 3pt range period.

Michael Curry's arrogance and incompetence is what created the mutiny not Rip. MC was disrespectful to everyone. Even the coaching staff hated the guy because he wouldn't take any of their advice. If it was as simple as Rip being a baby than Joe would have got rid of Rip. The problems went far deeper than that. For the record Rip may have been a whiner but he continued to play hard. Unfortunately he & McDyess were the only ones.

Jesus Focker it's just a game

I'm sick of reading about trading Rip & Prince. We went to six straight Eastern Conf. Finals with these guys and suddenly they are disposable?

Tay, Rip, and Sheed all understood that they were given up on. What Pistons fans don't realize is that the management cheated those guys. They traded Chauncey Billups for Ben Gordon, and Charlie Villanueva??? Not to mention lost Rasheed. With young guys behind them they didn't need to blow up the core like they did. Don't try to tell me the team right now is better than the team the went to 6 straight ECFs. They didn't need cap space. They should have used the MLE to get solid back ups like L.A. did. It wasn't all the players.

Tay is expendable. The last couple years Tay has disappeared in big games. He completely wimps out against superior talent instead of stepping up. Whats sickening is how easily he gives up. Get rid of him Joe D.

Who are they going to get if they trade Tay? If they get a center that will force a rookie to start or move either Gordon or Rip to the 3, and neither can guard LeBron. I've read many people rip Tayshaun for being unable to guard LeBron. News flash not many people can.

Keep the core and lose maybe in the second round? No thanks. You cant dismiss what the players did. As soon as Chauncey was gone they quit playing. The NBA is a business and when Joe D. saw that the team he had wasnt going to win, he made a move. You seriously cant think that this is all the moves Joe D. is going to make or even that it will last one offseason. We are rebuilding, its a process.

So what if a rookie starts. Rip and Gordon arent 3's. I rip on Tay for being mentally weak. He cant guard any SF stronger than him, its not just LeBron.

A lot of this has to do with the drafts that Detroit has had. Stuckey is good. Afflalo is servicable. Max is decent. Not sure if we drafted Bynum but he is good. 1st rounders include Darko Milicic, Carlos Delfino, and we got Walter Sharpe. It wasn't the core of the team that couldn't get it done. It was the bench. I think a lot of college basketball fans could have put together some better drafts. Couldn't have done a whole lot worse.

I don't see how the Pistons can trade Tayshaun. They don't have anybody else at the 3 spot.

I could see letting Rip go with Gordon now in the mix. Especially if they could trade him for an expiring contract (i.e. Boozer). But I'm not really excited about the injury-prone Boozer. And I'm not sure Boozer or CVill would want to come off the bench (assuming the Pistons are able to fill their need at center through another move ... hopefully landing Tyson Chandler).

Anybody have ideas on a possible trade where the Pistons deal Rip? Move Gordon into the starting rotation and get somebody that can play a 2/3 combo and backup both Gordon and Tay, as needed.

The starters are at fault but when they came out the 2nd team couldn't do anything. They relied too heavily on the starters and caused them to wear down.

Those guys weren't cheated. The core group had their chance and came up consistently, maddeningly short because of complacency and Stern's rule changes.
Everything went bad in '06 when Wallace guaransheed in the second round against the Cavs, and they didn't back it up and had to go seven games to beat Cleveland. They got wore out and lost game one to the Heat at the Palace. Pretty much after that, it was disappointment after disappointment.
Listen, I loved those guys. They gave us fans some great moments. But when I look back (and I hate to say this) that group underachieved. Six years of the conference finals and one title is pretty disappointing.
Oh well, at least they got the one, but I'm pretty sure we all thought we would get AT LEAST one more out of that group.

Trade Tay for Sam Dalembert
Rip & Max for Amare

Both trades work financially

We need 1 starting guard with 3pt range period.

Yes they are. Players arent good forever, and tese guys were good with the compliment of a Dominant Ben Wallace and Chauncey Billups.

All players are disposable at some point. Piston fans are trying to hold on with dear life to something that had its time and has now past.

These guys cant sticka round forever, the time is now to let them go and start over.
