so i just chatted on ESPN.com. I have to say, Chris Broussard is definitely a Pistons hater. he is definitely in for a surprise this season.
here it is

he basically had us struggling to get the 8th spot. behind the wizards.

seriously, i dont get all the hype regarding the wizards. they dont have bigmen who can defend well on the post, haywood and jamison, maybe blatche, but thats not enough to contend! sure, their backcourt is pretty impressive, but how long is arenas gonna last this year? he's an injury waiting to happen! i don't think the wizards are that good. but we shall see tonight when they matchup against the pistons. its preseason so i expect the starters to play limited minutes.

that guy is a junker when has he ever been right about anything. if there is anything i have learned about espn its that they are the biggest bandwagon jumpers ive ever witnessed. they really dont seem to ever know anything worthwhile. dont pay attention to the hog wash that the guy is dishing out.

I'm certainly a Piston fan but I can see where Chris is coming from. Think about it. No real star to build around, a rookie head coach, two big FA signees that haven't played with the team yet. Our big men are an aging Ben Wallace, Kwame Brown, Jason Maxiell, and Chris Wilcox. Our rookies are very raw and unpolished, thus might not get more playing time. Hamilton coming off his worse pro season, and underdeveloped point guard, and a 30 going on 55 Tayshaun Prince who hasn't really had an impact in a couple seasons.

This team is a big unknown at this point in time right now. If somebody picked them 11th, its because they are looking pessimistically, if somebody picks them 4th, might be looking optimistically. I can't fault either.

Haywood is a top 10 post defender. Probably top 5.

But yeah, the rest of their big men aren't really good defenders.

And there I was frozen, standin in my backyard
Face to face, eye to eye, starin at the last star
I should've known, walked all the way home
To find that she wasn't here, I'm still all alone.

Haywood, Jamison, and Blatche is a better defensive front court than probably every other Eastern Conference team other than Boston and maybe Orlando. Haywood is actually pretty underrated as a center. He missed almost all of last year as well as Arenas. So they have those two returning and add Mike Miller and Randy Foye. And oh yeah, they still have all stars Caron Butler and Jamison. That team has a lot of talent. Whether the chemistry works out is another thing. But they could be a very dangerous team if they stay healthy, which has been their biggest problem the last few seasons.
