Curry was an idiot and Iverson is a baby and a prima donna that screwed us because his ego was hurt because he wasn't starting? If he had tried to embrace his role and blend in with the team instead of shake it up he'd have had a better year. This is the reason Ben Gordon will work fine and the reason that Iverson did not. I hope when we face Memphis this year I hope we take every effin chance to take every cheap shot we can at Iverson. We should treat him like Jordan back in the day. Institute the "Iverson Rules".

Nothing I didn't figure already. Curry was an idiot (of a coach). How could you promise someone you would never bench them, how would that even come up in conversation? Man, if we just held on to Billups until around the trading deadline...or not trade him at all.

Maxiell said he has developed a trick to help him slow down and focus at the line. "It's all mental, it's always been mental," he said. "I just say 'Happy Gilmore' and try to go to my happy place. I think of my happy place, picture my girl and shoot."

I hope the "Ben Gordon the Micro wave 2.0" exp works. Iverson was a huge disappointment and thats coming from a lifetime Iverson and Sixer fan. I defended Iverson his whole career but, last season was sad.

I am glad that they are both gone.

Imagine if we didn't trade Billups...Curry might still be the coach of this team.

I seriously doubt that. IMO Curry was never really in the Pistons' plans long term unless he got this team a ring. I am conviced Joe had his sights set on A.Johnson. M.C. was a cheap interm who's lack of exp made him very easy to replace.

IMO Joe knew R.Wallace and Dice would go elsewhere with the direction Dumars seemed to be going in.

Nah, Chauncey would be the coach of this team, with Curry just a figurehead.

And we'd all still be complaining about 50 wins.

Piston fans need to stop caring about Iverson and Curry and just move on. They're both long gone, and Iverson's team will win < 35 games this year.

Did anyone actually think we lost all those games last year just because we lost Chauncey? C'mon, he's good but he's not that good, we had all the same players on the team except for Chauncey, obviously everyone gave up even everyone's hero Rip Hamilton and because the team chemistry was so bad because of all our starters who have been here to long and think they own the Detroit Pistons, our young PG Stuckey looked terrible.

Hey A.I., shut up and move on

BY DREW SHARP
FREE PRESS COLUMNIST

Allen Iverson should shut up and move on with his life.

But he just can't.

He threw another dagger into Michael Curry's already decomposed coaching carcass, telling ESPN that the former Pistons coach lied to him about never having to come off the bench. Iverson referred to his one year in Detroit as "the worst year of his life."

Can someone give the poor man a Kleenex?

It's nonsense like this that kills the NBA's reputation, furthering the perception that its stars are little more than whiny, self-absorbed millionaires with little regard for the concept of team.

"They told me straight up, 'Allen, we would never disrespect you or your career like that' by making me come off the bench," Iverson told ESPN. "That's what they told me to my face. And after that, I never thought about it again. I just went back to playing. Then, they came to me saying that they felt it would be in the 'best interest of the team' if I came off the bench behind Rip (Hamilton)."

Iverson didn't call out president Joe Dumars, but he definitely threw Curry under the bus, offering another glimpse into what was obviously a toxic combination in that locker room last season.

Iverson still doesn't get it.

He still views himself exclusively as a starter, a guy who must have the ball most of the 30-35 minutes a game he demands. Last year was an educational opportunity for the future Hall of Famer, a chance to show the rest of the league that he could adapt to a new role -- a diminutive Vinnie Johnson, someone capable of firing up quickly off the bench.

He blew it.

That's why he practically begged and pleaded with Memphis for a one-year deal. You can't tell me that a serious championship contender wouldn't have had interest in Iverson's diminished, yet still effective skill set when applied in moderate doses. But teams like Boston, Cleveland and San Antonio had no interest in him, and Iverson has only himself to blame for that.

Lobbing another bomb at Curry solves nothing. If anything, it's petty and childish.

Curry hasn't reacted to Iverson's declaration. Would it make any difference if he did, considering he's already long gone from the Palace?

Maybe Curry did tell Iverson at the beginning that it wasn't his plan to bring him off the bench, but a coach must adjust to situations as they develop. What's promised in November doesn't necessarily hold true in January.

Things change.

It looks like A.I. hasn't.

Detroit media is obsessed with bashing Iverson for nothing. Pitiful. They should be talking about how the players threatened not to play unless Rip started.

ben gordon is gonna show us this season how the allen iverson experiment should have went down.

whats funny if we get that ship soon which isn't a long shot, how can his fan boys still defend their opinion that everyone on the stones was trash but him?

Are you serious? With Billups we made it to the ECF 6 straight times, 2 of those 6 we went to the finals and we won a championship. We trade Billups to Denver, A team who with Iverson couldn't win more than 2 games in 2 years combined in the 1st round.

He goes there and takes them to the WCF. We end up making it to the Playoffs without A.I.

"He's good but, not that good."

He lead teams to 7 straight trips to CF, 2 Trips to the Finals and won 2004 finals MVP.

This group was used to a hard nose Coach who's a x and o's master that challenged, called out any player and Held players accountable.
When you're used to that, then you can see through the frauds like Flip and M.Curry.

Then you have a M.C. getting out coached nightly, And Iverson who is unwilling to alter his game to adjust to the team, unwilling to commit on D and unwilling to do what it takes to help his team win.

Nah, IMO they didn't think they owned the Pistons, The wanted to win and figured out the hard way that it was a rebuilding year.
