This kid has some serious potential. He looked really comfortable out there. I am fairly confident he will crack the rotation this year. I think he would be a real match up problem for a lot of teams if he plays SF.

Played 11:15 and lead the team in blocks and tied for 1st for rebounds. Also shot 50% from 3pt land. And Special K was right - it looked like he was shooting a free-throw on that 3 pointer he made.

I'm liking him too, an him being able to block on the perimeter is huge! It stopped daquan a great shooter from attempting 3's after daye swatted that ish, If he can scare other great shooters, thats all we need from him, everything else is gravy, i wasn't sure if he'd be able to block on the perimeter in the nba, but he just proved he can, an daquan jumps pretty high on his jump shot, so that made it even more impressive, it shows me he can do that to anyone an everyone

I was extremely impressed.

Good Court vision, intelligent decisions being made, hit that three effortlessly, and played great D.

I can tell from his frame he will be able to bulk up, i don't think he will be tayshaun skinny very long, an he already knows how to use what he's got, he'll only get better with more weight, not too much weight though, he just needs enough to be comfortable D'ing a fair amount of bigs

I remember him blocking a dunk, throwing a nice pass to Wilcox, and then air balling a three. That's it. He didn't show off any of the skills he supposedly has imo.

From what I saw yesterday, Daye is definitely not going to be NBA ready anytime soon.

Jesus christ.

He's a rookie. He nailed a 3 ball, and missed one, that's 50%. He had 2 blocks, a great one on the perimeter, and he also blocked one of the most prolific athletes in the league. He also showed a lot of smarts out there with his passing.

More than just being a rookie, he's like 12. Give these guys a chance to experience it. I'll say one thing tho. You can't teach length and I don't think you can teach his stroke.

Didn't they have him playing some 2 guard.. With him, bynum, max, wilcox, and summers on the court... What if he can play the one let's say better than stuckey.. Do we start him at the point guard?

Off the subject I think stuckey is going to be pushed for his spot by bynum this yr...

Bosh or Boozer will be a piston before the yr is over..

Very solid first game for the rookie against real NBA players. Looked comfortable out there. Didn't look nervous and didn't play rushed.

Showed a lot of his versatile skill, from that bullet pass from the top of the key to Wilcox for a dunk to the Wade block to the deep three point shot to playing the 2-guard on offense to rebounding a couple times in traffic. Did well for himself. Made a few mistakes but that's how he'll learn. Will have to make sure he makes crisp passes even if it's a short bounce pass. And he needs to realize if he's going to foul, he needs to make sure he prevents an and-1. But overall, a nice showing for the rook.

If he does eventually bulk up down the road maybe in a few years to anywhere around 230-240 lbs., I can see him more as a PF even on defense because of his length, shot-blocking potential, and rebounding ability. But gaining that mass and lower core strength is an absolute must.

More like Daye v. 1.0

Let's not draw comparisons yet, to say he wasn't impressive is a bit much though.

My comment was based upon the assessment sounding exactly like the same assessment people were giving Amir.

Amir Johnson didn't spend a couple of seasons playing for a top flight college basketball program.

I know what you're saying, and if you'll notice my post, I'm going with what you're saying (let's not draw any conclusions just yet, whether over-rating, or under).

Amir's hype came from one fluke game, pretty much, and was from a collection of odd looking jumpers, and some hustle plays (rebounds, dunks, and a block or two). Daye looked impressive with his decision making, and his ability to defend outside or in.

I'll certainly wait until the season is well underway to make any comparisons, or to hype him up any further.

I thought he looked pretty good for a rook. Nice block on D Wade.
