If Rip was injured why didn't we utilize Chris Wilcox??? The man is a center who can get out and run, I'm almost sure he would have helped in someway in tonite's game. We lost 91 to 83 Our only offense came from Rodney Stuckey and Ben Gordon. We could have definitely used Chris Wilcox against his former team that was 23 and 59 last year.

Wilcox isn't the stud athlete anymore, from what i've seen, as in vertical, his defense is borderline pathetic, he needs to go to big ben an learn everything he can, cause he can be a taller longer ben. Thats what i think bout wilcox playin, when he's ready throw him in. An let him earn his minutes just like everyone else, an screw his offense, he needs to work on that D, his promise is a hella higher on the defensive end, then it ever will be offensively, he just doesn't get that, being on bad teams could do that to you though.

Maxiell should have never played. He was useless on the floor. His points (1), rebounds(2 off), & blocks combined equalled his fouls (4). 0 def rebs in a home game. Jerebko or Wilcox would have been better.

the thing bout maxy is, no your not antonio mcdyess sorry to say. get your *** in the paint an bang!!! if maxiell wants to be anyone, he needs to be ben wallace, the one who his game always USED to resemble, not like he can't score, but screw the jumpers for now, he needs low post moves, with that vertical, length, an strength, if you have all that, why the hell would u ever resort to taking jumpers, that should be the last option shot clock winding down type of deal, unless you are antonio mcdyess an can drain every jumper you see

He can't hit jumpers, if it's not a dunk for him it's a miss. Max was an embarrassment to the Pistons when he failed to get a single defensive rebound. He insults McDyess when he says he can fill his shoes. Dyess was a good rebounder last season and did it consistently. With Chris Wilcox & the rookies Max should not play.

Summers won't be in the rotation, that's a given. Daye won't get anything but small minutes here or there, depending on how he progresses. Wilcox though, I too was scratching my head as to why he wasn't used. Wilcox has not slowed down athletically, he's still very athletic and I'd say our best athletic big on the team....yes over Maxiell. All preseason long they could just throw the ball near the rim and he'd go get it. He's also the best offensive big, behind Villaneuva. Made no sense for him not to play in my opinion but maybe coach knows something I don't know...

Hopefully we'll see him tonight.

I wish Wilcox played instead of Maxiell. Maxiell is only good for one highlight block/dunk.

Wilcox seemed to get in Coach Q's doghouse rather quickly in the first game against Memphis. He started the second quarter and got pulled after 2 1/2 minutes and didn't play again until the game was essentially decided. It's his defense. He doesn't move his feet. He doesn't contest in the paint area against drives. He's late on recovery.

His athleticism is just fine. He's about as athletic as he's always been. He's a quick jumper and a very good jumper. And, he does have some capabilities to shoot midrange jumpers. Earlier in his career, he could hit short midrange 10-12 foot jumpers with some consistency. If you remember him in Maryland with Juan Dixon and Lonny Baxter, he shot mostly midrange jumpers as Baxter manned the low post. I think the last few years, he's probably lost playing time because of his lack of defense so some people forget how good he can be offensively. He's no Tim Duncan or Chris Bosh on offense, but he's capable of being more than just a dunker.

What he has to do in order to earn some trust is improve and improve by a lot at the defensive end. If he does that, he can push Maxiell for minutes.

Some post combos work and some don't. Last season, Wallace/McDyess was good. So was Brown/McDyess, Wallace/Johnson, Brown/Johnson. And Maxiell/Johnson wasn't too bad.

But, Brown/Maxiell was awful, and were seldom on the floor together.

It's apparent that if neither can spread the floor, then one has to at least be able to put the ball on the floor and drive to the basket from 10 feet out. That's not Brown or Maxiell. Johnson had that ability. So does Wilcox.

Whenever Villanueva is out of the game, Wilcox should be in, either with Maxiell or Brown. Or, in his absence, play Jerebko.

These may not be the greatest defensive combinations, but at least the opponent can't cheat as much on defense, and it spreads the floor a little.

I think the Coach needs to try and Start Ben Wallace at C and Chris Wilcox at PF and have Vilaneuva come off the bench. I know that if given the minutes Chris Wilcox could really help this team Offensively and Defensively. Start playing him 25 minutes a night. And see what his production is I bet it will be higher than Maxiell's production and equivalent to Vilaneuva defenseive rebounds in less time.
