I think we need to pay attention to this guy. I don't like his decision making and right now i am not loving his game. I thought we would get a guy ready to break out for a 20 10 type of season. We are not seeing it right away and right now he looks like a Rasheed with worse IQ. Any other thoughts so far?

new team, new teammates, new coach, injured all preseason, rusty and out of shape. Still hitting threes, blocking shots and running the floor. Wait until mid-season on this guy. 25 years old and finally with a team that means something. developing...

He only played 16 minutes last night because of early foul trouble which won't happen all the time because he isn't really known as a guy who fouls alot, he will have a breakout year and will end up being one of the best young PFs in the league.

Jury is still out on CV....as noted he was out most of the pre-season and is still getting used to his new teammates.
I like his attitude...I think he's gonna work hard and get it right soon enough.

He'll have his moments, and then he'll have his games like last night where he's forced to defend guys who can out-muscle him and push him around and get him into foul trouble. Whatever similarities he has with Rasheed, they're not on the defensive end. I don't think there were any misgivings about his defensive abilities. Against the hybrid combo power forwards, like Rashard Lewis or Lamar Odom, he should fare better defensively.

But perhaps some people had too high of expectations from him. His numbers last year were a product of both Michael Redd and Andrew Bogut each missing 45-50 games, forcing Charlie into a primary scoring role with Richard Jefferson, consequently on a lottery team. You don't want Charlie to be the second best scorer on the team. In reality, he's a complementary piece best suited as a 3rd or 4th option playing roughly 30 mpg and putting up 12-15 ppg and about 8 rpg. That's what you should expect from him. That's roughly where he'll probably end up.

His numbers last year were still in 27 mpg so that isn't bad at all and obviously he proved he can step up with Redd and Bogut out, so I don't see how that statement really holds water.

Aren't we tired of 15 and 8 type guys that get physically and mentally dominated by these 20 10 guys? We have seen this before and if CV does not step up and produce all-star numbers than he has to be traded. Hopefully a S&T for Bosh

On a bad team. There's a reason he only averaged 27 mpg on a bad team when more than half their season, two of their three best players were out injured. He's simply not a 20 ppg/10 rpg type of guy. There are so few of those in the league anyway. To expect that from a guy whose market value was just a little more than the MLE is pretty naive, if you ask me.

He put up pretty good numbers on a bad team when two of the team's stars were injured most of the season. His career before last season, he was never flirting with being a 20/10 guy. It's no coincidence either that he's never averaged 30 mpg yet in his career.

Heck, the Pistons should have signed Ike Diogu since his per 36 minutes with Sacramento last year was 23.3 ppg and 9.9 rpg. Darko put up 12/9 per 36 minutes last year too. I'm sure Joe regrets trading him now. Maybe the Pistons can still pick up Von Wafer because he averaged 18 point per 36 minutes last season.

Look, CV is a good player. But, it's hard to imagine, especially with potentially two 20 point scorers in Rip and Gordon and another guy in Rodney Stuckey who has the basketball and is trying to establish himself that Charlie was going to put up 20 ppg this year. I think it's just unrealistic.

He probably won't score 20 a game with us, but neither did Rasheed, they don't have to, they have other players around them they don't need to carry the team it behoves them to actually score less and help get their teams involved.

When Ben's on the floor, teammates seem to let him take most of the rebounds. Charlie will not average 10 rebounds playing with Ben.

No knock on Ben, but even when he was in his prime, the Pistons were more often than not out rebounded.

To be honest as long as the guy tries hard thats all that matters to me. He's clearly got some talent. If he doesn't average 20/10 I'm not surprised, nor am I bothered as long as we're winning. We need to give the guy some more time before we judge.

I don't think Charlie Villaneva will ever average 20/10.

He is more of a 16/8 guy.
