Not Pistons but it is about the other professional basketball team that shares the Palace of Auburn Hills.

Doesn't come as a big surprise. It is just too bad because they really couldn't have performed better. I really can't see the WNBA surviving much longer. You could tell it was bad news when they are giving away free playoff tickets and still couldn't get people to watch. I can remember several opportunities to go to a Shock game for free and never did.

It is just unfortunate to lose a Detroit franchise.

I went every time I got free tickets. I love the Palace in general. I just didn't want to pay to see the shock.

i dont wanna be a a-hole, but i agreed with shep's slant, he basically said we were the girls who fought for title 9 to support the wnba? instead they resorted to men bringing there daughters to the games, an i was like there ya go shep

you may not like it, since we all know how emotional woman are, yet if ya be honest it's true, an the woman have no one to blame but themselves, they are emotional obviously, rallied behind title 9 which they obviously could care less bout, now look at the wnba, it's basically guys carrying the gurls yet again, which is why i don't get this, when woman talk a big game an try to be so independent now days, yet they need to dip in the guys profits to fund their programs, im talking college too. yet they big bad azz miss independent women... i dont get it, i truly don't

If any one is to blame is the media. The first year there was a lot of hype to bring in a WNBA team and they had a very poor first season. Then the Shock went from the worst to the best, and after the championship the hype started wearing off.
This season you would never know the Shock had a game unless you went on line because the news would never post their games or scores.
I did not know the Shock was even in the playoffs until they lost.
To be honest, I too lost interest in the Shock maybe because I lost track in what they were doing.

That's soo bad. I liked going to Shock games for free and/or very cheap. I could take all my nieces and nephews to the Palace and have a good time for cheap, without putting up with too much crowd.

It's a shame. I liked this team and the players. Three time champs, they are!

Wonder if the Palace address will go back to being 3 Championship Drive?

The media doesn't cover them because no one cares about them. Even women don't like watching them.

Not only the Shock, but the Comets folded too. Probably 2 of the 3 most successful WNBA franchises and they couldn't find the fan support. I really don't see the WNBA surviving as we know it for 5 more years.

Rocky: No, I think I invented it.

I'm sorry, but its just not much fun watching basketball being played by people who couldn't make a college basketball team.

News said they lost money every year, even the seasons they won titles. Sad for their team and for those who were really big fans of the teams and the players. Good luck to those ladies in Oklahoma.

Oklahoma does have a good women's college program so I suspect they have hopes that those women's college fans will transfer over to WNBA fans. That also hurt the Shock a little bit probably. Michigan women's basketball hasn't been very good for a while, as far as I know. The Lady Spartans have had quite a few good years lately, but it took a big hit when they're coach that turned it around left for Duke. Plus, neither women's college program had the type of following that really brought in fans to the Shock, especially both being roughly an hour away from the Palace. I suspect Oklahoma will be targeting the fans of the women Sooners.

Really too bad a team that is one year removed from winning a title couldn't sell. More people still buy Lions tickets. Lol.

Women sports that are relevant...

1. Tennis: It has a lot to do with outfits, but also, to me, the women's game is better than the mens.

2. Golf: Improving with some of the current top performers who are also not unpleasing to look at.

That would be about it. I know it isn't PC to say it, but the men's game is better. Top male athletes are faster, stronger, and can jump higher. Most WNBA players would not make Division I college teams for men. Why would you choose to watch a vastly inferior product?

im not that sad to see the Shock leave tbh. I honestly wish they would put a stop to the WNBA. I don't think there is a way to make these ladies seem lady like and still play competiive basketball.

Tennis is on a totally different level and doesn't deserve to be compared to the WNBA.

As my dad always says "They play with fundamentals!" Haha.

I remember seeing a bit of a game, can't remember if it was WNBA or Women's CB, but I heard the most ridiculous statement ever. The announcer made a comment like "The 3-pointer in women's basketball is just like a dunk in men's basketball. It's just as exciting, gets the crowd into it, and pumps up the team." Let's get real.
