I am open minded about trading Prince.

I'm sorry, but he just doesn't look like the same player he was a few years ago. I know, it's only two games into the season, and I'm not even necessarily saying they should trade him, I'm just saying I'm open to it. Truthfully, he seems to be the only starter out there that really doesn't mesh with this new style of team we have, but hey, that's just my opinion on the matter.

Tay really hasn't contributed much since 03' in the playoffs when he took Curry's job and then in 2004 when he blocked Miller, he had a reputation as like a Kobe stopper or whatever for a year then that was over.

I don't think he's hurt. I think Joe D is shipping him out. The timing, and the fact that he hadn't missed a game in 500 makes this a bit too coincidental.

Especially seeing as we hadn't heard much about this injury prior to him missing the game.

I think the fact we also drafted 3 SFs this year is very telling as well, I think Joe D will give the rooks a little time to develop and some time for us to rack up some wins and by the time the deadline comes along they will ship Tay for a draft pick to free up money for the big free agency period.

I have always been against getting rid of Tay, but I have finally jumped on the band wagon. We need to get rid of him while he still has some value. I think Tay for Outlaw and Przybilla would be a decent move.

Here we go again, Pryzbilla and Outlaw we don't need, that's a bad trade, just trade Tay for a pick to free up space.

who cares about cap space. No one who is worth anything wants to come here. We need players, not space and picks.

Wow, I really hope the "back spasms" is just him getting his physical/trade worked out. That would be amazing almost regardless of the talent coming back. Yea, you can hope Joe D brings something back worthwhile, but just not having Prince on this team frees up 35-40 minutes at SF for Rip and the rookies to step up and be more productive than Prince ever could.

The Pistons aren't the Lions of course free agents will come here, Villanueva and Gordon had no problem signing with Detroit.

Funny you say that. I go to RealGM and thats the headline article, but it says joe d is denying all trade rumors on prince. But i also wasn't aware maxiell was held out of the game last night but no reason why. Could there be something brewing? I wouldn't mind seeing them both go. It's funny how the 2 biggest dissapointments this year so far sit out at the same time.

slam jam thank you mam

Tayshaun Prince: An Appreciation

Pretty good although it has to mention "the block." Tayshaun isn't great, but he's incredibly consistent. I agree that his defense isn't as great, but it gets taken for granted that he's never had a good back-up. He ends up playing more minutes during the season and flakes out in the play-offs. Also, he doesn't need to be the main scoring option, we've got Rip and Gordon for that now. He's just the quiet guy who is always there.

yeah when he stepped away from that bron dunk 2 years ago that pretty much sealed the deal on tays defense .. you never see him run down players in the open court anymore .. he's def losta few steps on defense and simply takes to long to get his shot off on offense

The Detroit Pistons are paying Tayshaun Prince(notes) $10.3 million and team president Joe Dumars has said he would love to unload either that contract or Richard Hamilton's(notes) one for $11.6 million. So when Prince was benched last night as a "precautionary move related to a lower back strain," lots of folks in the arena thought a deal was clearly in the making.

The consensus seemed to be that he would be packaged with forward Jason Maxiell(notes). But Dumars is saying ix-nay. The move was supposedly all about injuries. Dumars is saying that he's sick of new faces in his clubhouse and would like some stability.

But you'd think he'd be very happy to see a big-name free-agent "new face" next summer if he can free up some of that cash.
