Let's say Rip to the cavs for Illguaskas
and Tay for boozer? Would u do this to free up cap space for next yr.. Along with kwame and wilcox is coming off the books...

Bosh or Boozer will be a piston before the yr is over..

Were you the one who kept bringing this up over the summer?

Stop it already.

I'd do both of those deals...
Especially if it freed up money for next summer.

I have faced the reality that this team is absolutely missing a couple of much needed pieces.
With all the perimeter shooting, and complete lack of inside presence on offense... multiplied by the inabilities to stop ANYONE on defense, this team is going to need a couple more very complete players to compliment our good role-players and decent bench.

I don't think that the current personnel is going to be any better after the injuries to Rip and Prince. Nor do I think that another year of experience, as we are, is going to make much difference in the aspect of competitiveness next year.

Why would trading a couple of aging vets redundant contracts, on a roster complete with depth at their positions be a bad move?
Do you not want cap space next year? Or do you think we honestly have something to build on here without making a move to clear some cap?

The alternative is staying pat, hoping for a lottery pick next summer, and trading expiring contracts NEXT year...

that cleveland trade is awful, and im tired of reading about it on this site. not to mention, it makes the cavs ridiculously better, which i don't condone.

and the only way i'd make the utah trade is if they take maxiell's contract along with tayshaun. that trade alone isn't gonna give us enough money, and i'm not too sure about paying boozer long term

Big Z a.k.a Father Time has a terrific shooting stroke, especially for a guy his size, but that's about where the praises stop. He's 400 years old, slow and just horrific on defense. Maybe if he was literally fifteen years younger. Tay for Boozer is an interesting idea. I used to not care about Tayshaun because I thought he was a so-so all around player. Then he sat out a few games and I'm missing his defense. On the other hand, during the offseason Boozer was the first player I wanted to get. My friends and family thought I was crazy but I admit I am in love with a big that can score efficiently and rebound (get you twenty and ten a night) like: Bosh, Howard, Boozer, Bynum, etc.

Look what this team is doing without tay and rip now, and imagine a lottery pick and possibly 2 quality free agents.. Of course u minus wilcox and kwame.. We would have a nice squad next yr.. This squad isn't going very far this yr in the standing wise.. However they will grow and become a pesky team as the season goes...

These 2 deals are for next yr not this yr...

Bosh or Boozer will be a piston before the yr is over..

But why would you want to help Cleveland out so much? That's a goldmine deal for the Cavs. You could just as easily say Rip and Max for T-Mac. At least you wouldn't be giving the Cavs a sweetheart deal.

No to Rip for Z. Not only is it not a good deal for the Pistons, but it would never happen.

The only thing Detroit gets out of that deal is cap space. That's it. Z is a nice player, but at this point you only get his expiring contract out of it. Detroit doesn't seem like the type of team that would give away a talent like Hamilton for cap space, especially after what happened with the Billups trade.

I'd be thrilled if this were to happen, but I'm going to have to say that it's not possible.

I agree with you that that would be the most bone head play ever. There's no way I would send Rip to the Cavs for Big Z especially since he is looking to retire after this season. What are we trying to do help Cleveland keep Lebron????? Or help them win a championship?? There's no way I would give up my most valuable asset for an expiring contract. Keep Rip unless we're getting Bosh or Stoudamire. Rip and Gordon is a very deadly combo and I would be surprised if that team doesn't make some noise in the playoffs. Get Boozer for Prince, and let Daye and Jerebko fight it out for the starting position at SF. Bottom line get rid of Tay.

You would bring in Boozer and his expiring contract for one season? Why? We're not going to re-sign him, and we're not going to challange for a championship.

Where would he play? He's not a center, and he's not a good defender at PF. Do you want him taking CV's minutes? Boozer would be playing along side Brown or Wallace (or Maxiell or Wilcox), and without a PG. Boozer doesn't stretch the floor, and is dependent on a PG who can get the ball inside. At Utah, he has Okur to stretch the defense.

And, we'd have rookies playing SF. I'd rather we keep Tay until Daye is ready to replace him. Jerebko is a backup PF, not Charlie.
