I don't see it happening. I think Curry was fired to stroke Rip's ego more than anything else.

You have to get all the cancer OUTduring an operation or it will grow back.

Move Tay also, but if he returns I won't be as Mad...
He can fit in and hopefully wont play as much anymore.

We need 1 starting guard with 3pt range period.

I don;t think Joe knows wheather it will be RIP or Tay because he has drafter 3 fowards and git Ben Gordon.

I just hope its not both RIP and TAY that would seriously suck. We would barley be the Pistons anymore

Joe can trade Rip a lot easier now if he gets the deal he wants for him.

Joe D wouldnt straight out tell anyone he'll trade Rip. I think he just made sure that if he didnt that Ben Gordon wouldnt have a problem coming off the bench.

This is what Chris McCoskey has to say:

"This is going to be a younger, quicker and more offensively-potent team featuring three guards capable scoring of 30-plus points on any given night -- Richard Hamilton, Rodney Stuckey and Gordon.

There are concerns about those three finding chemistry. But by accepting the offer, Gordon understands he will be coming off the bench for the Pistons. The Pistons are expected to use Gordon much like Dallas uses sixth man of the year Jason Terry -- as a closer.

Gordon will play 30-plus minutes a night and be on the floor down the stretch of close games.

The Pistons will use a lot of three-guard sets, with Hamilton playing a hybrid small forward spot spelling Tayshaun Prince."
--The Detroit News

I would like the team to keep Rip -- his skill set is unique. Why would Joe D. sign him to a very reasonable contract last season and NOT draft a guard in four tries if he was planning to trade Rip all along?

Trade Tay for Emeka Okafor, lure Jim Calhoun from UConn, and the Pistons will win an NCAA National Championship!

Book it.

Okafor (2004)
Villaneuva (2004)
Daye (Just throw him in there)
Hamilton (1999)
Gordon (2004)

Our front court needs demand a trade. It is paper thin. Even if we resign Mcdyess. As constructed this team is going to be in the lottery. We aren't going to be able to stop anyone from scoring.

Jesus Focker it's just a game

Stuckey, Rip and AI didn't work - but MAYBE the reasons it didn't work won't apply to Stuckey, Rip and Gordon:

1) AI is the biggest ballhog guard in NBA history, Gordon makes things happen way more quickly.

2) AI was a lousy outside shooter. With him, Rip and Stuckey, everything screamed for defenses to pack the lane. Rip could hit an occassional long range shot, but his game is mid-range. Stuckey improved as a long range shooter, but that's still a work in process. Sheed's injury also allowed teams to pack it in even more against us. With Gordon, we now have one of the very best long range shooters in the game, and Stuckey should be improved with his shooting as well. The lane won't be packed as much for Stuckey or for Bynum or for Tay or Vill or Rip. We should be a lot more potent on offense.

3) Gordon is the perfect offensive compliment to Stuckey and Bynum, and Rip off the curls will once again have a superior 3 pt shooter to kick the ball off to when he makes his curls.

4) Coming back to AI being a ballhog and Gordon not, it is possible that Rip, Stuckey and Gordon, and Tay in a small ball lineup could have great chemistry. If Stuckey takes another step forward as a reliable outside shooter, this could be very interesting.

I think Rip being traded makes the most sense for this team, to free up cap room in future years and to bring back some interior monsters, but I can see lots of reasons for the Pistons to keep him and see what happens.

One more thing I just thought of: AI was a helter skelter type of player. Nobody ever knew where he'd be on the court or what he'd do with the ball. Teammates tended to just stand around while he did his strange ineffective thing.

Gordon is a guy you can run an offense with. The team will be a lot more efficient - a lot more assists - with him in there, not only because he'll knock down open shots (hell he'll knock down contested shots too), but because the team will feel, play and look like a team.

I'll bet Stuckey and Gordon will be a lot like Billups and Rip were for each other, a great backcourt duo who really know each other's game and who play great together.

Well I guess you just don't want to win an NCAA Championship then...

If you're not cheating, you're not trying. I don't blame him.
