The team as currently constructed will not be competitive in the East without another Center. Who can Dumars realistically swing a trade for? Who can give this team the defensive rebounding and a low post presence to compete?

i'd say chris wilcox is probably the most talented center available for cheap in free agency. i think he could give us a solid 13 & 7 and be a huge steal.

pachulia may also be serviceable

hoopshype scouting...

Wilcox: Gifted athlete... Very strong upper body... Broad shoulders... Very good running the floor... Can be an effective scorer even though he doesn't have a very polished offensive game... A decent contributor in the right situation.

Pachulia: Plays physical ... Good game with his back to the basket... Runs the floor decently... Tough defender... Lots of temper.

as for trades, i'm sure dalembert, sean williams (doubt joe wants anything to do with him), eddy curry (ditto), chandler, kaman and biedrins could all be had without breaking the team up too much

I think the pistons might trade Tay or Rip for a center like Kaman from the Clippers as they are overcrowded with big men or Tyson Chandler from the Hornets

Some center options to explore:
Tyson Chandler, Samuel Dalembert, Emeka Okafor, Erick Dampier, Hilton Armstrong, Chris Kaman, Marcus Camby, Kendrick Perkins, Chris Wilcox.

I think Chandler, Dalembert, Dampier, Wilcox and possibly Armstrong would be fairly easy to get. Kaman, Camby, Perkins and Okafor would be more difficult, but I think we have a shot at them.

In order from who I'd want to get the most to who I'd want to get the least:
Okafor
Perkins
Chandler
Kaman
Armstrong
Dampier
Camby
Dalembert
Wilcox

Armstrong would be interesting. A classic underachiever but he only has a year left on his contract. Good motivation to play well. I wonder if they would take Afflalo for him? Wilcox wouldn't be all bad either. I just wouldn't offer him anything more than a 2 yr deal worth 6-7 mil.

No to Armstrong. He's gonna be a bust, plain & simple. Mark my words. Not mobile enough for this league. A waste of space IMHO. I say Wilcox would fit great b/c one, he's a blue collar guy on the floor. He's would have a similar impact that Ben(Wallace) had with the defense and hustle. He needs to be around other solid players which he has lacked for the better part of his career. He had some success being a solid backup in Seattle though and even with the Clip joint. Or I wouldn't mind Joe resigning Sheed but don't see him taking a cut in pay so there you have it. joe's waiting to see what's left over after FA and how the rooks do here in Vegas next weekend. I'll be getting down to the T&M for some of those games fo sho!

This is a interesting thread!

I was just thinking about possibly moving Tayshaun to either N.O. Hornets for a even swap of him for Chandler (which does work) and then theirs our low post defensive/offensive presence we've been missing.

or the wishful thinking but far fetch one of tay for portlands Oden or even L. Aldridge

The Hornets want to move Chandler to reduce payroll. Prince won't do much, about $2 million.

Chandler has missed a lot of games, and OKC doctors wouldn't take him last year. It's a big gamble to commit over $25 million for two years on someone with a bad foot, and give up a player that hasn't missed a game since he entered the starting lineup.

And, the Blazers would not trade Aldridge for Prince, and probably not Oden. Aldridge is a PD, not a center, and his play is very similar to Villanueva.

I think it will be Tayshaun to the Clippers for Camby. Bosh can't play center and it will be tough for the Pistons to resign him. In my opinion this is the most likely of the moves. Camby's contract is up after next year as well.

I like Camby and we'd probably have to take on R.Davis also to match salaries. The problem is LAC already unloaded Zack Randolph, so why would they trade the expiring contract of a good center when Kaman is coming off an injury filled season?

Channing Frye can shoot from outside, or score inside, can run the floor, and can play both PF and C. He's not as physical as Chandler or some of the true centers, but would be a good back ar two positions, and can team with Maxiell in the low post.

I was playing with the trade machine early and the realistic deal I got was also sending Prince back home to LA for Camby. But I believe Camby has 2 years left on his deal.

But we wouldnt have any money to sign a SF.

I really like Perkins. Hes stupid as hell, and pathetic, but he can take up some space in the paint and rebound. He could be available since Sheed is taking his spot.

Also, I know, hes not a center, but Leon Powe was cut By Boston.

I would prefer a Frye and Hollins tandem signing, I believe both could eb had fairly cheap. Frye the starter and Hollins toback him up and Kwame can be dealt as an expiring deal in a S&T or as a kicker to help get a Kaman deal or a Chandler deal done.

Sign Frye and deal Tay Kwame to NO for Chandler and a 1st.

I'd love to get Chandler somehow even with his injury history. His potential is too enticing to pass up, especially considering his relatively good age.

I'd also be for Kaman even though the likelihood has decreased. And Wilcox would be another solid option as would Zaza Pachulia.

A move will definitely be made though as I'm sure Joe will not be content with Kwame being the only true Center on the team as of now.
