She's suspended the first six games and Ford isn't well enough to contribute right now. Grand.

So Bill's starting Deanna Nolan, Katie Smith, Taj McWilliams-Franklin,Shavonte Zellous, and Barbara Farris. Not the strong lineup I was hoping for. Dammit.

I totally agree Tweety! But Bill always has something up his sleeve!

Happy to see Haynie is on board - hopefully she can play - that'll be our "shock!"

Did anyone in Detroit go see her at Meijer's?! You guys don't know how lucky you are!!!!

Tweety, your avatar continues to intrigue me - Ich spreche u. verstehe Deutsch, mit keine Problem - Wer/wem folgen Sie denn?!

i have never been totally sold on Kara Braxton, and this latest bit of mischief does not exactly help me feel any better about her. I am once again feeling like she may be the Shock's version of Joe Don Looney. Yes, there really was a guy by that name, and he played for the Lions and several other NFL teams in the 1960s. Like Kara Braxton, Looney had lots of athletic talent and the potential to be a great player. But he could never quite bring himself to do what was necessary to realize his potential, and so instead of having the productive and possibly great career he could have had, he bounced around from one team to another, never really making much of an impression anywhere.

Another, slightly different example from the same general era...Denny McLain. Great pitcher with the Tigers, even won 31 games in 1968. But he could not stay out of trouble or keep his head in the game, and ended up flaming out long before he should have.

Kara needs to decide and decide soon, if she is gonna step up and take care of business, or if she is gonna end up like Looney and McLain, leaving a lot of potential and possible greatness on the table. I really hope she can get her act together, for her sake and the sake of the team.

She has to grow up big time and realize what's at stake here. She could easily be one of the most marketable players in the WNBA if she would dedicate herself to the game. She was dunking a volleyball back in her sophmore year of high school and now she isn't even close to it. The league would be her's for the taking if she really wanted it but sadly enough I just don't think she does. Frowner

I agree. Braxton has so much potential, and I really like her. But this is so disappointing. I hope you can try and talk some sense into her.

Ok, straigh to the point... why are yall hateing on Kara?? Confused

I am a high school player & I have benn playing varsity since 7th gr. I have faced multiple suspensions, just as Kara has and I was permanently released during my 7th gr. yr. I'm playing again now though! Big Grin A lot of people say some of the same things about me as far as basketball goes. But, I've proven myself time & time again when I step on the court! just as Kara has! I mean, just take a look at the way Kara performed in game 1 of the 2007 finals! my point is.........

People make mistakes!!! so get over it!!! The Shock would not be where they are today without her!! When you fall, you dont stay there, you shake it off & get back up! So... no one has the right to act like they've never done anything wrong!!
So... HATERS FALL BACK!!

Okay, I'm a big fan of Kara both on the court and off, but let's not be delusional here. Let's be real.

Why are we hating on Kara? Because she needs to get her stuff together, and that's true. There's no question that she's a good basketball player. That's true. And I really do think if she dedicated herself to it, she could undoubtedly be the most dominant force in the league. She has a lot of potential; however, it's just that. Potential. She is not a consistent strong player. Career-wise she has only average 6.7 points, which isn't that much. She has not progressed or grown as a player since she was drafted. She has NOT proven herself in this league. Yet.

And having multiple suspensions is never a good thing or something to be proud of or complacent about. However, there is a big difference between getting suspensions on a little high school and getting suspensions in the spot light of a PROFESSIONAL sports team. In high school, you're just a kid. Kara, however, is NOT a kid--so she shouldn't act like one.

And that's not even why we're giving her a hard time. We're giving her a hard time because of the dumb moves she's been making. Do you even know why she got suspended? It's because she was caught driving drunk....TWICE. Driving drunk is one of the stupidest things you can do. Yeah, everyone makes mistakes. This mistake (which she made repeatedly) could have easily gotten her in jail (and I'm surprised it didn't), killed someone, or she could have lost her own life. This has nothing to do with basketball. It has to do with her getting the BS straightened out and maturing as a person. After that happens, then she'll blossom as a basketball player. Until it does happen, you can't get mad at people for "hating" on her. Roll Eyes

I have lots of love for Kara, but its time for a change. And if you'd like to know, I know for a fact that there are family members of Kara's who post on these boards regularly, who would side with me over you.

agreed... multiple suspensions for the SAME offense which is something that could kill not only herself but others is not ok. everyone makes mistakes, but some mistakes are more serious than others. She needs to learn from them and evidently, she didn't after the first time. I can only hope she finally has this time before someone gets killed.
