There's not a ton of depth out there in free agency and the chances of a rookie point guard making this team is very slim, especially the two we have. Haynie is a decent defender, has good size for a point guard, can distribute the ball, and can make shots.
She's not the greatest point guard but she's an upgrade for nothing. She'll come in and probably start although she may not play starter type minutes, she'll probably fill the role of Powell. Plus she's a home state girl...she's gonna bring people to games.
In Atlanta's first win, Haynie played 31 minutes scored 11 points, dished out 11 assists, and had 0 turnovers.
2nd win, Haynie 4 points, 5 assists, 5 rebounds, 1 turnover, in 20 minutes. Didn't shoot well that night but led the team in assist in just 20 minutes.
The only win they had where she really didn't make an impact was their fourth win, she only played 8 minutes that game. She led the team in assists in all three of their first wins which tells you she can distribute and they played better with her. She won't need to score 10ppg here, just come in and dish the ball off and defend. She can rebound too, Laimbeer loves guards who can rebound. She'll be fine here...
She got waived on what like Wednesday? She has to clear waivers which is I believe 48 business hours during the regular season and it may be longer in the off season not sure. So that's false that they would have signed her by now.
And Laimbeer said yesterday the team will be signing someone shortly, possibly two players. But you can expect for Haynie to be signed by Detroit sometime this upcoming week.
