For some reason, I wish Holdsclaw made a comeback to the WNBA. She played great statistically. But I agree, we should sign Tina Thompson. I think Detroit should also sign Penny Taylor or Sales. LJ is most likely to sign with Seattle again.

Temeka Johnson #2 Guard Los Angeles Sparks Height: 5-3 Weight: 132 only 4.3 pts per game
First thought you spelled her name wrong and she's too short(5.3) and would add nothing for the shock, except 4.3 pts which you can get from any back-up guard.

not to mention coach lamb likes bigger guards.

Thompson most likely will be cored by Houston....if Houston doesn't folds. With Taj here along with Ford and Pierson....there's not really enough room for Thompson especially if she doesn't want to take a pay cut. I could see her going somewhere like LA where she's great friends with LLL and Parker and then they could move DMJ for some backcourt help or even San Antonio would be a good fit for her and they could just slide Young over to the 3 position. NY is another team Thompson would be good on.
Like stated before, SFO doesn't like small guards and LA would match anything TJ signs anyways most likely....especially if she signed an offer sheet with Detroit.
Lennox I like though....I think you could easily slide Smith back to the pg, Nolan at sg, and then Lennox at sf or something like that and have an even more explosive starting lineup. Lennox could even come off the bench too, allowing Nolan and Smith to rest more and not having that much of an offensive drop off when going to the bench. Hornbuckle, Lennox, Pierson, and Sanni all off the bench would be nice...
Not sure if we could afford her though and Atlanta could possibly core her as well.

We won't be getting lennox she was cored?whatever that means.
P.S. Here's the answer: The new CBA will also bring about changes to the WNBA's 'coring' system, the rule that allows teams to prevent UFAs signing for anyone else while guaranteeing them a one-year contract at the league-maximum salary. In the past teams have been permitted to core two players each, and while this will be the same for the upcoming 2008 season, from 2009 onwards it will come down to one, giving more players the chance to choose their own destination. Atlanta will immediately core its one UFA pick from the expansion draft in order to retain whichever player it may be.

She would be my first choice. Last year we got lucky. Our good bigs got hurt but still managed to battle in rebounding and scoring inside against other teams. With her in the line up, we'll be confident that we have ample players who could contribute even if a couple of players are hurt.
I also think we need a pure shooter. Maybe like Penny Tayor. I'd love to have Nicole Powell. Seen her since she was in Stanford and man, she can shoot from anywhere! But she's not a free agent yet.
I also like Abrasimova. She can still play. And something for me and Ed to look at.
Has anyone been keeping an eye on the Sparks. This is Lisa's last run and they look like they are doing everything in their power so she can leave with another championship. They signed Thompson, Lennox. The Shock and the rest of the league need to be concerned. The sparks are now the team to beat...sorry to say it but the shock as defending champs are playing to keep the sparks from taking the title...
I agee sparks are the team to beat,I said the shock should have signed thompson and lennox. The shock screwed up by not doing so and now they may lose the championship because of it!

LA the team to beat? Do you guys not realize the only point guard they have on their roster is Shannon Bobbitt?
They have a huge problem at the guard position still, even though they have Lennox. Lennox is good, she'll help them with perimeter offense but to make them the "team to beat" no. Maybe in the West sure because Wauters won't be coming back until mid season, we're unsure what LJ is doing, and the other teams like Sacramento and Minnesota just aren't that good yet. But Detroit has nothing to worry about...
And from what I heard Detroit did go after TT but she did not want to come here. She's a California girl, good friends with LLL and CP....just the perfect fit for her in LA. They'll be good but they still have to get help at the point position and they'll still be without Parker for a good amount of the season due to her pregnancy. Nothing to really worry about for the Shock...
Detroit got everything they pretty much needed in the draft with Zellous, now all we need is a solid point guard and I do believe Haynie will be signed. If Haynie is signed, Detroit is still the team to beat and still the deepest team in the league.
