AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP)—The Detroit Shock have signed veteran forward Barbara Farris to a free agent contract and waived third-round draft pick Tanae Davis-Cain.

Farris spent her first six years in Detroit after the Shock drafted her 22nd overall in 2001. She was a member of the Shock’s 2003 WNBA championship team.

Farris ranks third on the franchise’s career list in games played (371) and ninth in rebounds (462).

She played with the New York Liberty in 2006 and 2007 and spent last season with the Phoenix Mercury. Farris was traded in the offseason to Sacramento, which waived her Monday.

Davis-Cain, a guard taken with the 37th overall pick of this year’s draft, scored 14 points in 21 minutes in one preseason game.

The shock cut Tanae Davis-Cain, a 5-foot-11 guard, also a Florida State product, finished her FSU career as the program’s all-time leader in three-pointers made and set a school-record with 77 triples made in her senior season. She earned ACC All-Tournament Second Team and All-ACC Third Team honors this season while ranking second on the team in scoring with 12.7 ppg.

She scored 14 in first preseason game.Why did lambeer cut her? Other guards(tiera+kristen) were shooting 1.54-3.33 with 2-4pts.Go Figure!

Lambeer is starting off like last year,scraching your head on the choices he makes.

Kristin did not play the first game and it was pretty much known Davis-Cain would not make the roster. Yeah she had a good preseason game but still, there's no room on the roster for her. Maybe the reason she was cut before Tiera was to help Tenae, maybe she can get a look with another team before final cuts have to be made. But anyways, Tiera will be cut pretty soon too.
