Rosters will be cut down from 13 to 11 this season with no IR... Doesn't really effect us a lot because Laimbeer doesn't always carry 13 players anyways but it still sad that teams have to go with 11 women rosters this summer. Better hope everyone is healthy with that short of a roster....

Anyways, I think that means for the Shock that Sheri Sam won't be back and if Ashley Shields is back she'll have to beat out the first round pick. Shields have been signed to a training camp contract a few days ago...

I'm thinking our 11 will look something like this...

Powell/draft pick
Nolan/Hornbuckle
Smith/Pierson
McWilliams-Franklin/Sanni
Ford/Braxton/Schumacher

I think the draft pick will be either Briann January or Shavonte Zellous. If Zellous then Hornbuckle will be the backup point guard and if January then January will be the backup point guard and Hornbuckle will play some of the 2 and 3 position off the bench. Either way, I like a potential Hornbuckle/January or Hornbuckle/Zellous backcourt off the bench.

Beyond hoping that everyone stays healthy, it really cuts down on chances for young players to develop. There are so many really good college players who end up in Europe because there are so few teams with such small rosters in the WNBA. Teams can't afford to give a player a few years to develop unless she is really, really good.

I think Powell needs to be cut and Bill should go after a good pg in free-agency and the draft.

There's no point guards in free agency. I think we need to draft Briann January...

Betty Lennox hasn't been signed yet. I know she more of a shooting guard than anything but she's a huge upgrade over Powell.

Like you said Lennox is not a point guard, more of a chucking shooting guard and we just don't have the money to really sign her unless she signed for like the vet minimal which I doubt she'd do.

i dont like the roster cut down because i dont think its giving alot of players chance and like for the draft whoever go to new york gone have to work their butts off because there team is set and some teams like detroit only have one roster spot open

Right. And she's not getting any better either.
