I can't wait for the LA games, both at Staples and the Palace. I expect to be a lot of people there for the games.
BEAT LA BEAT LA!!

My fantasy outlook for the upcoming season (some not likely going to happen)
1. Detroit-LA WNBA Finals
2. Nolan (and maybe somebody besides Candace Parker and Lisa Leslie) actually finishes a slam dunk and not just attempt it
3. Chicago and Atlanta or DC will make playoffs
4. Minnesota in the postseason (Don't ask why)
5. Eastern Conference teams (sans Detroit and Indiana) fight for final 2 seeds.
6. Postseason predictions and additional information
East
Detroit-Atlanta(Detroit sweep; Atlanta makes a 4th quarter comeback. However, Ford hits a turnaround 12 footer at the horn in game 1.)
OR
Detroit-DC (Detroit in 3)
LA-Minnesota(LA in 3)
Indiana-Chicago (Chi in 3)
Phoenix-SA (SA in 3)

Conference Finals
Detroit-Chicago (Detroit in 2; Game one win in final seconds; Chicago plays game at Allstate Arena or the United Center[Not in UIC b/c of ticket demand])
Los Angeles-San Antonio (LA in 3) [Tough luck for Becky :-( ]

Finals
Detroit-LA
Sparks blow out Detroit 104-87 (Staples Center)
Attendance 13,141
Shock upset Sparks with Katie Smith's 3 with .6 seconds
88-85 (Staples Center) about 12,000
Sparks edge Detroit in nail-biter
92-91 (Palace of Auburn Hills)
Attendance around 17,000
Shock seal the game with a Nolan Slam
92-85 (Palace of Auburn Hills) Attendance 22,076
Sparks and Shock fight close in 3rd quarter but Detroit outscores LA 27-16 in 4th
103-91 (Final Basket for Leslie is a dunk)
(Staples Center) Attendance: Around 16,000
DETROIT WINS 4th TITLE IN LAST 7 YEARS AND THEIR 2ND CONSECUTIVE.

Well the first game AT Connecticut I'll have to miss for sure because I'll be in Boston coaching in the Bay State Games.

The second game AT Connecticut is August 25th. Who knows, maybe I'll be able to fulfill my dream of FINALLY seeing Katie Smith play in person.

I may miss a lot of games this summer. I'm applying at a few summer camps to be a counselor which I've always wanted to do and if I get a job then my availability to games will be very limited. I'll be at the home opener though, nothing will stop me from getting there.

It also seems like the Shock will get no tv or radio deal this season which is very disappointing. I haven't heard anything official but that's the rumor going around. Horrible if you asked me, especially coming off winning a championship.

Why? At least I predict Detroit will win their 2nd straight. Also, Lisa Leslie and the Sparks will fall short of a title.

If you are going to a Shock home game, please encourage Nolan to attempt a dunk during the game. I don't know what's with me encouraging her or ANY WNBA player besides Leslie and Parker to slam dunk.
Also to add to my fantasy/predictions for the season
Holdsclaw returns to the WNBA (much to imo LA and DC's dislike)
All Star Game will be sold-out
A team (or hopefully more minus Chicago and Connecticut) will average nearly/at/above 10,000/game
  • Assist leader Penicheiro 6.5-7 assists/game
  • Rebound leader Ford 11 boards/game
  • Points leader Taurasi 26 points/game
  • Blocks leader Lisa Leslie 3 swats/game
  • Player scores 50 or more points

    Sadly, me too Frowner

I work five days a week now and always start work at 9 p.m...So my chances of making all these 7/7:30 games are slim to none.

    Which sucks...
    A home game without DTP's presence=bad
    A home game without bethany's presence=even worse
A home game without both DTP and bethany's presence=WTF? Is this even a Shock game?

    Haha, ain't that the truth.

And Nolan doesn't dunk because Laimbeer doesn't allow her to.

Why won't Bill allow Nolan to slam even if let's say the game's a blow out?

He's afraid of her getting hurt....not being able to come down, hanging on the rim which could result in a nasty fall on her head. At least that's what he said....something like that.

Haha yeah, I think someone asks BL/Nolan why she doesn't dunk at every online chat, open house, fan gathering, etc., and Bill always says he doesn't want her getting hurt. I think that's pretty validated, too, since we've learned from all-star games and such that she's not the best dunker (not that I don't give her props for being able to throw down though she's well under 6 feet tall.)

  • Taurasi won't average that many PPG. I don't Ticha will average that many assists but it also wouldn't surprise me...

I think if any player has the power to put up 50pts, it'll be Deanna. She could do it with ease, the only thing is she doesn't play for a team that sucks...the weight is distributed pretty evenly here.

Its the fact that she couldn't palm the ball that she wasn't successful during those dunks. She got lift and everything, just couldn't keep hold of the ball.

I would prefer to simply see Deanna Nolan score lots of points. How she makes the shots should be of little to no concern as long as she does indeed make them.
